Everyone has had scars. A time back when you were little you fell over and hurt yourself days down the line the wound healed but left a scar. It was always the deeper more serious wounds that stayed for years, even though the event was when you were weeny you still look back on that scar and the memories haven't left the feeling of the pain and how it happened. Sometimes the memories behind those scars even bring us shame and hurt today. Childhood scars are not all that serious when we know it was caused by riding our bikes to fast, scrapping our legs on the pavements etc, we get over them soon enough and tell of our careless fall and even laugh at the memories even though at the time we cried. However, as we continue in life some scars are more serious than others. Some scars we would rather hide than it bring back memories of the pain of a traumatic experience, one we don't want to remember or share. Isn't it funny how we can be so concerned about our outside appearance that we choose to forget about what's taking place on our insides? We wear the amazing shimmer or matte lipsticks, we see the beauty in the black or brown mascara which makes our eyes pop to become engaging. Our nails, done and painted, the perfume we wear captures each persons senses as they walk pass you. Each clothing item compliments the other and most of all your hair says it all. Beauty has spoken from the outside. But what is it saying on your inside? To the person across the street, you are confident, to the lady sitting next to you, she feels you are glamorous, to the guy living next door, you become sexy and to the child heading to school you become a role model. But to yourself you know your hiding behind a mask. Your broken, your heart has been thorn from left to right from family issues, bad relationships or just self condemnation. Right, where do I start..... I decided to have this book as my November 2013 read of the month. Since I purchased the book from the London, UK, Be Women conference last month which had Heather Lindsey as a guest speaker. This review will be a general overview of what I learnt from this book and why I recommend this as part of your reading & growing material. So lets begin: How does this book make me feel? REFRESHED! Did it challenge me? YES! Do I feel less pressured to survive in this world? YES, because I know I am no longer alone! Does it draw me closer in a relationship with God or further away?
