What Do You See?

Image
Shout out the first 5 words that come to your mind, without pausing, if someone asked you, “What do you think about yourself?” . . . . . How did you find it? Were they all nice, or did you have some bad ones in there too? One of the hardest things in life can be to face your own reflection. To be free enough to say what you really think about yourself. Sometimes it is soo much easier to continue to wear the masks (the false identities worn from the lies we have accepted and become over time), than it is to look in the mirror and see our true reflection… who we really are (Genesis 1:26-27). Michael Jackson sang a famous chorus. Sing it with me; “I’m starting with the man in the mirror I'm asking him to change his ways And no message could have been any clearer If you want to make the world a better place Take a look at yourself, and then make a change.” – Man in the Mirror It takes courage (the quality to face difficulty, danger, etc) ...

Breast Cancer Awareness: A Month of Hope

Image
‘ Miss You Already’ is a heart-wrenching story about the friendship of two women, Milly (played by actress Toni Collette) and Jess (played by actress Drew Barrymore). This film is based on the two main characters showing their original bond of two young, playful children later experiencing the adventures of adulthood together. Just like ‘besties’ they rode the waves of life hand in hand through all its highs and lows. So what has this to do with Breast Cancer Care? For those of you who are familiar with this film you will know that as the film unfolds, Milly is given some disappointing, painful news; she is diagnosed with cancer whilst Jess continues her battle with fertility. What was once one world in the wonderful playful life of children has now become two worlds colliding, both setting their own endings as adults. A tale of hope, love and light-hearted humour makes way for us to identity with the growing reality of breast cancer and its un-foreseeable impact...

Guest Blog by: Tyson Douglas - "Ballerina"

Image
When living in what you would call an exposed world with the attitude of 'What you see is what you get' , you forget how lost one can be in the mist of it all, expectations seem to run wild both internally and externally.  However, when we do take time to consider what others have and are truly going through, we realise that 'there is more to life than meets the eye' . This month we have a special guest blog contribution brought to you by  Tyson Douglas , a   British television, theatre and film actor born in London , who challenges the above notion and allows you to think into each word he writes through the powerful, but simple examples of a Ballerina and a Chef. Have a read: Love not just the Ballerina, but also her feet. This, along with a series of more graphic related images got me thinking; about how beautiful each of us are, but also how delicate we are too. How on the inside there are marks left from what we've...

True Friendships

Image
So I normally like to start my blogs with a question, well at least sometimes I do. So here is today's one: Do your friends add value to your life or do they drain you of all your energy, self worth, and most of all peace of mind? Yesterday as I was getting ready for work, 1) I realised that I hadn't written a blog in such a long time, but 2) I actually had a real sense of appreciation for the genuine friends that I do have. You see the thing is this; How does one really define having 'real and genuine' friends especially if everyone per say places this title on you, but to others you are just an associate? For me growing up, I didn't have a huge amount of friends, why? Because I just didn't and in some ways I am truly grateful. Yes, I admit, there has been times when I have admire people with stories of having friends for years and growing up with them since primary school (elementary school) and so forth. But the ones I am happy to call friends ar...

Single: FREE to BE all that God wants me to Be!

Image
A few months back I wrote a blog titled: Oh You Single Women! In that blog I explained my own experiences of being single and also what I thought being single meant, especially in relation to finding myself. So in this blog, I am taking a similar approach with an extra few bits and bobs here and there to add. So lets call this, part 2 of part 1: Oh You Single Women. I will most likely be putting myself on blast and answering some questions that others may have for me like: 1) I'm I single, 2) In a relationship? 3) Courting 4) Interested in anyone etc. Ha ha ha, so lets see how this goes, but remember its not all about me... Just because your single and everyone around you is either coupling up, married or having kids, it doesn't classify you as an outcast or weirdo and especially not forgotten. I have always loved this verse from Songs of Solomon 8:4 where it states: 'Do not awaken love unless it is ready to be awaken.' (paraphrased) For me, I see many peopl...

"God is Love and He loves you"

Image
Hiya, Just to confirm, No you are not going crazy, and it is not valentines day all over again, come on two in one year...ha ha ha. Anyway, t he reason why I am bringing up the subject of love again is because as on my journey to work this morning, sitting on the train I remembered what my cousin and I was talking about last night. We really took time to listen to each other and ended our conversation with the conclusion that above all that we face or may go through, We need to know about God's love . With that being said we finished with praying. So lets go on the journey of God's LOVE today, What is it all about? How many times do we feel like God is somewhat mad at us, like He has cast us so far away and forgotten about us? Well, the truth is that he never has and never will especially when we are in our darkest moments. The Bible says: Even when we were sinners Christ died for u s (Romans 5:8), and in that greatest sacrifice, it was declared how much God lo...
