We all have our own personal print, the things that make us who we are. Each strand of life absorbs itself within our DNA. Our growth of likes and dislikes from life’s branches such as culture and society, education and work, relationships, music, beliefs and values; attach to our DNA and form as particles that make up the anatomy of our identity. These and others help define and shape us. From the day we were born to our last dying breath, we can come across as pawns on a chessboard being in the process of human branding. You may be familiar with the term ‘Branding’; it is the technique of marking something in order to verify its identity, ownership. As humans we can be seen as   walking brands. The world we grow up in fights for our identity daily. These battles can be seen visually, psychologically, physically and spiritually. We are bombarded by images and words everyday; situations showing us who we are or are not, and where we may have come from. The str...

I know who I am

Image
For some of you reading this, you may look at the title of this blog and say that's the most simplest, dumbest thing to say Faith. Of course you should know who you are, right? Wrong! To me those four words are the most precious, heartfelt, revelation, inspiring, encouraging words I could ever say to myself and hear others say about themselves too. For many of years I had battled with trying to find out what my identity was. I knew all the facts and figures: born into an African family, one of the two girls, three brothers, mum and dad and the list goes on, obvious FACTS. But the truth was that in the mist of all this I still didn't really know who I was and from that I somewhat was easily able to be swayed into trying others identity through the way they talked, dressed or behaved and only to see if it was something I was into or wanted to adapt to, to say, yes, finally I have arrived, 'this is me'. But I was not alone. There where other ladies who felt the sam...

Did you know?

Image
That you are precious and one of a kind? Have you realised that you might at times not fit in everywhere you go?  But instead of looking at that as a fault or yourself as an outcast, Do you ever stop to think that its okay to be different? Why are we so obsessed with trying to fit in with the norm that we would rather abandon our uniqueness and settle for a carbon copy of another's self? Did you know that you are cared and loved for unconditionally by God, crazy right? But it just doesn't stop there because it is a fact! No matter what mistakes we make, No matter what wrong thoughts we might develop or even bad decisions we might make, did you know that above all of this He is still willing to ACCEPT us for who we are, knowing that this has been or is apart of us? God knows that we are not perfect but He is and He is the only one that can help us to be the best person we can ever be. I truly believe it should be our daily duty to stay true to ours...

"Beauty Through Song"

Image
So I've put together some of my favourite 'Beautiful Songs' , Remember if its not said in person, it can be expressed through song. Enjoy whilst you either take time to listen or read the meaningful lyrics. 1) You are so beautiful to me - Joe Cocker     Such simple words, with such a touching meaning. There is someone out there who feels like this about you. Some have this someone now, and some long for this type of guy who will cherish them and make them feel like they are meant all these simple words…. There is hope, so keep your beauty shining and I believe that someone will come along soon. 2)  Beautiful- Christina Aguilera I remember when this song first came out...truly amazing lyrics with a meaningful message. It really makes you think, and understand that some of us really have difficult times that we face especially with identity. But the hope is that we are all made in a unique way and we should embrace it, no matter wh...

"In her shoes: If the shoes don't fit!"

Image
Don't these shoes look awesome? Well, their not mines, they belong to my cousin Mary. The thing is I look up to my big cousin, and as high as these heels are she glides with ease. However with me on the other hand, it takes some time, uncomfortable feelings & sometimes pain, (hey, don't judge me, yes, I'm still learning to walk in heels). The thing is, I wanted to be just like her and walk in all these glamour heels. And at the age of 20/21, I dated this guy who liked his ladies in heels. And yes I liked him at the time, so I wanted to please him. My next actions was going into Top Shop and buying a pair of boot heels. I still remember them till today, they looked cute from the outside, black & sophisticated, but boy once they went on maybe half an hour, they began to hurt. You could say I was walking like a 'chicken'... Lol... Heels were just not for me at that time. See, we as ladies look great in heels and there are certain ones that ...

"Looking for love in all the wrong places..."

Originally Written on: 05/09/2012 There where times when I felt so low, so alone & so unworthy. I would not even do the honours of looking in the mirror to tell myself this, but I was constantly thinking this whilst wondering will someone ever love me? I would wish to be in a relationship, just to feel wanted, appreciated and loved, but each one either left me feeling ashamed or heart broken. Times have flown past, and yes God calls, He reaches out to me. At this point, you can either say 'Yes Lord I'm listening', or turn away & ignore the call. Many times I turned away, but not this time. Enough was enough. Ladies, there are so many of us, who hide behind the negative thoughts the longing to be loved that we miss the one true love from our Heavenly Father Jesus Christ. When I wrote in my journals, about how much I wished to be in a relationship & be treated better or just to be happy, there was always a tug upon my heart to find it ...

"You are Special"

Image
Originally Written: 19/06/2012  You can walk on with your head lifted high, for you are Special. Not many people here those words spoken to them. But it’s truer than you will ever know. Yes, you might not seem to be like everyone else. But that should make you smile, for you are no one else but yourself. You are an amazing, talented, strong, beautiful person both inside and out. And it’s only all the negativity of the world or past mistakes, hurts or wounds that will make you feel otherwise. But please do hear me. You are stronger than you know, bolder than you ever think and have an amazing smile. You might not hear this spoken to you, but there is no time like the presence and this is what God thinks of you. When you smile and feel real peace and joy in your heart, it makes Him smile. He is not made at you. He just wants what is best for you. His word says: If earthly fathers can give good gifts, how much more will your heavenly father give you good gifts ...

"Do you know that you are perfectly made?"

Originally Written on: 19/06/2012 It seems at times we give ourselves less credit than we are due. We belittle ourselves to what society says rather than acknowledging and appreciating who we truly are. After all Society didn’t originally create us, God did. If we allow society to shape our identity, we tend to loses ourselves and become what others expect us to be. You where made the way you are for a reason, some of us might not see it right now, or some of us are actually not looking hard enough. Ladies we allow ourselves to be blinded from our own beauty that we embrace others beauty instead of our own. Question: What makes you think you are not beautiful, What makes you think someone else looks better than you, Who told you that are not beautiful, Is the word ‘Beautiful’ ever use towards you? All these questions have different answers from different ladies views or life experiences. But the main answer to all the above, is that no matter, what people may...
