#SpeakLife: A Time of Self-reflection

Image
Looking back on 2017, it’s been quite a year. We have all had our ups and downs; our highs and lows, but the best thing is that we have made it to the end of another year. If you have been connected to us, you will know that 2017 has been the year of #SpeakLife for Beautiful Faces Ministries (BFM). A year of learning to capture and cultivate a lifestyle of speaking good health: physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally over ourselves and over others. Our posts has looked at starting and finishing 2017 with a better perspective, new beginnings accepting who we are and valuing ourselves in a selfless way without vanity, wrong expectations, whilst believing that good things can and will happen again to all of us. It has been a great year of sitting with one another and sharing our lives together. God knows that we all need people who can #SpeakLife to us as...

Time To Re-train the Tongue

Image
The tongue can be seen as a foul member of the human body. One minute it’s saying loving and caring things, then the next minute it could strike like a panther and cut deep. So how do we 'train' our tongue to speak that which is good and not bad? A simple definition of what it means to train is: ‘to develop or form the habits, thoughts, or behaviour of (a child or other person) by discipline and instruction.’ If you ask anyone who trains, or even if you train yourself, you’ll know that it’s not always easy. You start out all fired up and raring to go, it’s fresh, new. Then you go through the awkward middle stage. Sometimes the excitement has worn off and perseverance has to kick in. You have to push harder in order to achieve a good end result. And then the end stage, of course, is where you physically see a breakthrough. But, the cycle continues, and there needs to be consistency, otherwise it is easy to fall back into bad habits.  It’s also a mental act as well...

Vision Begets Careers

Image
Careers are a big part of our lives. We spend a majority of our time on Earth working in our professions, whether temporary or permanent. Regardless of whom we are and what we do, we should all have one common denominator when it comes to our careers… vision . Vision is important because we must have direction in life. We can get by on the ‘go with the flow’ mindset for some time, but at some point we find that this theory will crash and burn, as there’s no clear route. There are many stages in life that prepare us for progression, and careers are one of them. In order to progress it means that we must become better at something. We must take time out from our busy schedules in order to master or strongly craft a particular area.   The route for most of us is to start off in education, where we acquire the theoretical knowledge. This then moves to a more practical, real time experience route such as work experience etc to further fine tune and acquire new skill...

I Accept Me!

Image
Life can be tough. As people, we get knocked back and forth by circumstances, some of which are within our control and others that are beyond our control. We make decisions, good and bad, impacting every part of our world. These decisions make way for prosperous fruit or a decaying life. Influence is such a powerful tool in society. A person who has it gripped firmly in their hands can become a positive icon or a destructive weapon. In our IT savvy, external ‘want now’ generation, the meaning of identity has become blurred. Our understanding of ‘self’ has become personally absorbing and dependent upon temporary things. Culture and traditions, lifestyle gadgets including music and technology, religion, politics, the media; are just a few warranted soldiers of influence. Each warring against us to give us their personal brand, becoming deceived by the alternate delusion they present to us. Flicking through magazines of some edited images that are supposed to be the ‘re...

When God When: Facing your storms & Seeing your Joy!

Image
There are many times in life when we go through things. Some of these times feel worse off than others. We cry & at times let anger build up due to the disappointments, delays & defeats. But I truly believe that the time for overcoming, rejoicing, smiling again will be knocking at our doors very soon, if not today. Having the RIGHT attitude to endure, with the strength of God & the power to overcome makes everything you go through feel a little bit worth it. I do believe that everything happens for a reason, the explainable and unexplainable, especially when at times some reasons seem clouded. 'Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy' . Psalm 126:5 The verse above kept coming in remembrance to me a couple of times throughout November 2014. I felt it was God trying to reassure me that despite what we go through He is ever so present to be our Strength to carry on, our Defender when accused & our Helper when in need. To reass...

"God Hears"

Image
As I was on my lunch break today, I took time to sit down with a homeless gentleman and had a good chat. I loved our conversation because as much as he could physically see he hadn't  much, he still had something, a great sense of humour, a willingness to listen and be prayed for. To me that blessed me beyond my own individual thoughts this day. He mentioned that one thing he wasn't sure about was whether God was really hearing him especially when he prayed. Funny enough I had struggled with the same question too, especially through my testing times. He even challenged me with the question... Do you hear from God? Trying not to sound all spiritual, giving up or religious I gave him my answer. What did this teach me? It showed me that no matter what stage in life we may be in our Christian walk with God or in general, we all still have questions and we all are still looking for answers or as some would like to call it: 'Looking for clarity' a...
