Seasons - What season are you in?

The word ‘season’ is defined as “each of the four divisions of the year (spring, summer, autumn, and winter) marked by particular weather patterns and daylight hours, resulting from the earth's changing position with regard to the sun.” Take away the weather connotations from this definition and focus on the words PATTERNS, HOURS and CHANGING POSITIONS. Just like the weather, we humans have seasons too. We change physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually throughout our lives. We can liken our seasons to life- situations and circumstances. Some seasons are easy, others can be hard (really hard), and never the less they’re unavoidable. They can; and do, shape and affect us in different ways. An individual’s situations and circumstances are different. Moving in and transitioning from season to season can be tricky. Not only do we need to be aware of which season we are in (Ecclesiastes 3:1-11) as this part of the Bible shows us there are times for everything, but we must ...

Tell me something good!

Image
There’s a scene in the film Me Before You , I hope this isn’t a spoiler for any of you, when Lou says to Will, “tell me something good, ” . Without going into too much detail, Lou is upset and struggling to come to terms with what will become of her life due to present circumstances pertaining to Will, but Lou looks to Will for a Word. She was looking for a WORD in her time of need (circumstances). This captivated me as it prompted me to ask that same question to God, “tell me something good.” It provoked the thought of What Word do I look to God for in circumstances? This made me think about my relationship with God and His promises to me throughout the Bible. When I feel or see nothing good due to present circumstances what WORD from God do I stand on? Can I recall them in times of need? Do I believe and treasure them at all times? Like Lou, when you’re going through a rough time What Word from God do you stand on? Do you even have a Word to stand on? This is re...

Fulfilling expectations

Image
We expect the sun to shine in summer and we expect the moon to come out at night because that's the way it always tends to happen, until the unexpected happens, an eclipse.  We then become surprise as it messes up our normal routine or way of seeing things; our expectation is forced to change. Such is life when we try to live up to the expectations of others. Because we always feel we must keep it up, so we find ourselves feeling drained, exhausted and finding it hard to run off the little fuel we have left to just be ourselves. Expectations are not always bad at times, it can be good especially when we and others may have high expectations of us but then we can see that they can be unhealthy when it becomes a bar too high to reach, because we then realise either it was never our character and more about what others were trying to project on us. Perhaps like myself you're the sort of person who always is strong for everyone, never seen shedding a tear, so automatica...

When God When: Facing your storms & Seeing your Joy!

Image
There are many times in life when we go through things. Some of these times feel worse off than others. We cry & at times let anger build up due to the disappointments, delays & defeats. But I truly believe that the time for overcoming, rejoicing, smiling again will be knocking at our doors very soon, if not today. Having the RIGHT attitude to endure, with the strength of God & the power to overcome makes everything you go through feel a little bit worth it. I do believe that everything happens for a reason, the explainable and unexplainable, especially when at times some reasons seem clouded. 'Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy' . Psalm 126:5 The verse above kept coming in remembrance to me a couple of times throughout November 2014. I felt it was God trying to reassure me that despite what we go through He is ever so present to be our Strength to carry on, our Defender when accused & our Helper when in need. To reass...

True Friendships

Image
So I normally like to start my blogs with a question, well at least sometimes I do. So here is today's one: Do your friends add value to your life or do they drain you of all your energy, self worth, and most of all peace of mind? Yesterday as I was getting ready for work, 1) I realised that I hadn't written a blog in such a long time, but 2) I actually had a real sense of appreciation for the genuine friends that I do have. You see the thing is this; How does one really define having 'real and genuine' friends especially if everyone per say places this title on you, but to others you are just an associate? For me growing up, I didn't have a huge amount of friends, why? Because I just didn't and in some ways I am truly grateful. Yes, I admit, there has been times when I have admire people with stories of having friends for years and growing up with them since primary school (elementary school) and so forth. But the ones I am happy to call friends ar...
