Don’t Speak....

Image
I guess there really is truth in the saying,  “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothing at all.” (Film: Bambi 1942) Sometimes we can trap ourselves in our own worlds, living in a cave that we have perfectly carved out of miserable words, with an overlying thickness of shadow covered by an ever-dimming light because of what we say. What we say is linked to what we think, what we believe and many times become our actions. What we believe about ourselves, others, our lives, our situations and circumstances; ultimately the world we live in. Often times when things don’t go or appear to be what we think they should be, we can tend to become, shall I say, a little loose with our mouths – the tongue is no longer bridled. The build-up of these unexpressed emotions and thoughts can potentially over-boil and explode into some quite toxic – our lives become a hollow shell and far from that which they were created for – fullness and life ! We are very familiar w...

Tell me something good!

Image
There’s a scene in the film Me Before You , I hope this isn’t a spoiler for any of you, when Lou says to Will, “tell me something good, ” . Without going into too much detail, Lou is upset and struggling to come to terms with what will become of her life due to present circumstances pertaining to Will, but Lou looks to Will for a Word. She was looking for a WORD in her time of need (circumstances). This captivated me as it prompted me to ask that same question to God, “tell me something good.” It provoked the thought of What Word do I look to God for in circumstances? This made me think about my relationship with God and His promises to me throughout the Bible. When I feel or see nothing good due to present circumstances what WORD from God do I stand on? Can I recall them in times of need? Do I believe and treasure them at all times? Like Lou, when you’re going through a rough time What Word from God do you stand on? Do you even have a Word to stand on? This is re...

I Am....

Life and experience can sometimes make us forget what God says about us. It’s really important that we not only remember but also  KNOW  what He  says about us. Colossians 2:9-10 – Complete in Christ. Secure Romans 8:1-2 – Free from condemnation. Romans 8:31-39 –  Free from any condemnation brought against me and  CANNOT  be separated from the love of God. Colossians 3:1-4  – Hidden with Christ in God . Philippians 1:6 –  Confident that God will complete the good work He started in me. Significant 1Corinthians   3:16 – God’s temple.   Ephesians 2:6  – Seated with Jesus Christ in the heavenly realm.  Ephesians 3:12  – Approach God  with freedom and confidence.  Philippians 4:13 – Can do all things...

What Do You See?

Image
Shout out the first 5 words that come to your mind, without pausing, if someone asked you, “What do you think about yourself?” . . . . . How did you find it? Were they all nice, or did you have some bad ones in there too? One of the hardest things in life can be to face your own reflection. To be free enough to say what you really think about yourself. Sometimes it is soo much easier to continue to wear the masks (the false identities worn from the lies we have accepted and become over time), than it is to look in the mirror and see our true reflection… who we really are (Genesis 1:26-27). Michael Jackson sang a famous chorus. Sing it with me; “I’m starting with the man in the mirror I'm asking him to change his ways And no message could have been any clearer If you want to make the world a better place Take a look at yourself, and then make a change.” – Man in the Mirror It takes courage (the quality to face difficulty, danger, etc) ...

Build Internally Well

Image
I once read (paraphrasing) that you are always becoming something and God is concerned about what you are becoming. These words strike a nerve because they act as a reminder for us to keep check of ourselves: heart, mind, emotions, character… OUR NATURE. Like any other human being in life, there are times when I completely forget my nature. Life doesn’t go according to plan and I begin “acting up”. However, over the years God has begun to unveil that my acting up is because there is a malfunction on the inside of me. That there are things that I am externally saying are healed but are actually internally still bleeding. That light is not penetrating everything. This will be noticed individually and pertain to each person emotionally, spiritually and mentally. Remember, God is concerned about ALL of us and not just parts of us. He wants the whole package! As we have already entered into 2018, let us make sure that we are building ourselves internally strong. As a builder ...

#SpeakLife: A Time of Self-reflection

Image
Looking back on 2017, it’s been quite a year. We have all had our ups and downs; our highs and lows, but the best thing is that we have made it to the end of another year. If you have been connected to us, you will know that 2017 has been the year of #SpeakLife for Beautiful Faces Ministries (BFM). A year of learning to capture and cultivate a lifestyle of speaking good health: physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally over ourselves and over others. Our posts has looked at starting and finishing 2017 with a better perspective, new beginnings accepting who we are and valuing ourselves in a selfless way without vanity, wrong expectations, whilst believing that good things can and will happen again to all of us. It has been a great year of sitting with one another and sharing our lives together. God knows that we all need people who can #SpeakLife to us as...

You Are Valuable

Image
Most of the time when we talk about something being valuable ( having importance or use, worth, having qualities worthy of respect, esteem and admiration ), we often connect it with materialistic items; things we can see, taste, or touch. However, what happens if we reflect this on ourselves? Is the value ( worth, respect, importance ) still the same or does it change? What would happen if we pulled up a seat, sat down, took out the imaginary mirror, looked into it, and simply asked, ‘Am I valuable?’ What would your first thought be? What would you say ?  Yes or no ? Would you even respond ? … something to think about. Why can it be so hard to value ourselves? Why is looking in the mirror difficult at times? How can such a simple question be challenging to answer? Is it because we allowed something or someone become the measuring rod for our self-value? Maybe we have let our characters, natures, situations, circumstances, relationships, behaviours, culture, s...
